Release Notes:

Provides compatibility with focus control changes made in Blackmagic Cinema Camera Update v7.9. Please note, if you are NOT using Blackmagic Cinema Camera Update v7.9 then please use continue to use AFX v1.7.

IMPORTANT NOTES for Pocket 6K/Pro Users only

  • Focus control changes made in Blackmagic Cinema Camera Update v7.9 mean that the SET LENS RANGE function is no longer required when calibrating a lens and has now been removed
  •
The focus control changes made in Blackmagic Cinema Camera Update v7.9 may also potentially have an impact on certain lenses previously calibrated using earlier versions of AFX firmware. In these instances the lens will require re-calibrating using AFX v1.8 and we apologise for any inconvenience that may result as a consequence of these changes that have made in Blackmagic Cinema Camera Update v7.9

Latest Firmware : AFX v1.7

(All camera types/Blackmagic Cameras With v7.3 installed)

Release Notes:

  • New "FOCUS RECORDER" function to enable the real time recording and playback of up to two minutes of focus movements. The "FOCUS RECORDER" is accessed through the newly expanded "AFX ADJUSTMENTS MENU".
  • New "GLOBAL OFFSET" function to provide -20/+20 cm adjustment to compensate for mounting the AFX in a different position from the original calibration point. This function is global so affects all lenses and is in addition to the individual offset available when loading a lens. The "GLOBAL OFFSET" is accessed through the newly expanded "AFX ADJUSTMENTS MENU".
  • New "TURBO" option added to "CALIBRATION MODE" types to allow calibration at 50 ("PRECISION"), 25 ("FAST") and now 15 ("TURBO") points. Please note that although the AFX interpolation functionality obviously generates additional focus positions between these calibration points, it is recommended to use the PRECISION mode to provide greater accuracy with very wide aperture lenses.
  • Navigation between "CALIBRATION POINTS" can now be both forward and backwards by pressing the A button on the R1 to move forward and the B button on the R1 to move backwards.
  • Current "CALIBRATION TRACK" can be cleared and reset to its initial starting point by pressing the LOWER TRIGGER on the R1.
  • Navigation between manufacturer names in "CAMERA" and "LENS" fields can now be both forwards and backwards by a SHORT press of the A button on the AFX to move the the next name and a LONG press of the B button on the AFX to move to the previous one.
  • Inverted screen mode status is now stored as a global preference and recalled on each boot.
  • Supplementary User Guide for AFX v1.7 is available for download at http://www.cdatek.com

Latest Firmware : AFX v1.6

(All camera types/Blackmagic Cameras With v7.3 installed)

Release Notes:

  • New “FOCUS TRAP” function for QuadLock. Using this function when in AF-C mode, focus will only change when the subject is within the area set by the A and B focus points stored in QuadLock.
  • Support for Tilta Focus Wheel in QuadLock.
  • New “MOTOR CALIBRATION” function to calibrate Tilta Nucleus N and M motors for use with lenses that do not have hard stops. This optional function is to be used before calibrating and using such lenses with the AFX if required and is accessed with a DOUBLE PRESS of the B button on the AFX.
  • New “NO UPDATEFOCUS screen mode for Motor based AFX setups to provide a static screen with no distance updates displayed. This mode offers a less distracting display option and can be toggled on and off with a SHORT press of the A button on the AFX. As the real time update of the display of the distance on the AFX screen is informational rather than functional, this mode does not affect underlying focus functionality. This mode is not applicable to Pocket 4K / Pocket 6K configurations as they already have the ability to switch to the camera COMMAND screen for a less distracting display option.
  • Various system level improvements including distance display smoothing and enhanced focus interpolation.
